Disaster Relief Project
East Baton Rouge, LA
September 9-14, 2018
Join our Disaster Response Team as we travel to East Baton Rouge, LA, and serve with Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse has reserved volunteer housing for a team of TEN adults, 18 years and older. The team will be part of a larger group rebuilding homes in an area damaged by flooding. Volunteers need no special skills, only a desire to serve alongside other willing hands.
Pastor Meeks to Attend and Preach at
The 223rd General Assembly for our denomination will be held June 15-23 in St. Louis, MO. Pastor Meeks has been elected as one of the commissioners to represent National Capital Presbytery. In addition to this, he has been invited to be one of three preachers to address the assembly during morning worship services. He will be preaching and administering communion at the Friday morning worship service on June 22. Please be in prayer as he prepares for both the decision-making responsibility as a commissioner, and for the opportunity to bring a message from God’s Word to the assembly. Please plan to attend the Pastor’s Class on Sundays June 24 and July 1 (9:45-10:45am in the Sanctuary) as he offers a first-hand report of this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Adult Membership Class
July 8, 15, 22 & 29 (make-up date)
Come explore the meaning of the Christian faith, the Presbyterian tradition and how to become more involved with the Greenwich church family through affirming our Covenant of Membership. The class will be held in the choir room during Sunday School hours. To sign up for the class, please contact our Director of Congregational Care, Lucille Marciano, at email@example.com.
All Church Ice Cream Social
Sunday, July 15
Please join us in the fellowship hall & grounds for ice cream with all the toppings! This is a great opportunity to get to know other folks in our Greenwich community.
Each year the congregation (in partnership with the Congregational Nominating Committee) enjoys the privilege of electing a new class of church leaders from the membership. Potential nominees for deacon and elder may be recommended using the forms located on the fellowship tables.
Kay Duffield, Executive Director of Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative (NOVA-HTI), needs to locate a place for a young mother and her baby for about a year as the mother continues her restoration process toward a healthy lifestyle. They will need a basement apartment, an apartment possibly on the grounds of someone’s house, or a townhouse – something that will provide privacy for the mother and baby and not interfere with the life of the family.
A NOVA-HTI case worker will be involved with the mother and child throughout the year. If you, or someone you know, might be able to help in this way, please contact the NOVA-HTI Case Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org or Carol Clegg at email@example.com. Your questions are welcome!
