Music Ministry

Greenwich is a singing church and our rich musical tradition is a vital part of our worship. Our three worship services include music and singing in three slightly different styles...

8:00 am Worship features a traditional hymn-sing and music that has been a part of our church family for generations.

9:30 am Worship is a blended acoustic style including hymns and contemporary choruses

11:00 am Worship features hymns accompanied by organ and robust musical offerings from our gifted adult choir and other musicians.

If you are interested in getting involved in our vibrant music ministries, contact our Director of Music Ministry, Lon Quinones, to consider participating in one of the following areas:

Chancel Choir
Our gifted Chancel Choir sings a wide variety of styles of music, and welcomes all adults and high school students. We are frequently joined by guest musicians, including brass quartets, string quartets, and noted soloists.

Adult Handbell Choir
The Adult Handbell Choir leads worship several Sundays throughout the year at the 8:15 and 11:00 services.  We welcome all interested in playing this unique instrument.  No prior handbell ringing experience required.  This ensemble is directed by Debbie Gilbert.

Children’s Handbell Choir
A recent addition to the Greenwich music ministry, the Children’s Handbell Choi
r, welcomes children between 1st and 6th grades and participates in our worship services several times each year.

Concert Series

Our vibrant music program includes a concert series which in the past has featured incredible musicians and artists who have blessed us with their art and ministry:

Elizabeth Temple, piano, and Clyde Shaw, cello, both professors of music at Shenandoah Conservatory of Music.

Angela Knight, soprano, Washington Opera, and Wayne Houk, piano.

Louise Lyon, piano.

Dr. Eileen Guenther, organ, President of the American Guild
of Organists, and Professor at Wesley Theological Seminary.

The Woodbridge Flute Choir, directed by Debbie Gilbert.

The Chancel Choir presented a concert with Dr. Eileen Guenther; Michael Forest, Professor of Voice at Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, and member of the Metropolitan Opera; and Angela Knight.

Jeremy Casella playing and singing a blend of acoustic folk with occasional harmonica thrown in for fun.

MusicAnts, a string quartet from Bulgaria presented a concert.  They had given concerts across the US, including a concert at Carnegie Hall prior to their performance at Greenwich.

The Bluefield College choirs from Bluefield, VA, as a prelude to concerts they presented in Europe.

Pianist/composer Heather Sorenson presented a concert of her original piano works, and on the following Sunday morning led the Chancel Choir in a moving interpretation of her powerful anthem “God of Heaven.”
