Leadership

The congregation of Greenwich enjoys the privilege of electing church leaders from its membership who serve and care for the congregation and its ministries.

Elders
The elders of the church together with the pastors form the Session. The Session exercises leadership, government, and discipline and is responsible for the worship, fellowship, and ministry of the church. Elders are to be “persons of faith, dedication, and sound judgment…their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel” (Presbyterian Book of Order, G-6.03). Our elders take seriously their responsibility as representatives of and leaders for our congregation.

Deacons
“The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ.” (G-6.04). Our deacons are also men and women of Christian character and sound judgment. They are responsible for caring for those within and outside our congregation who are sick, in distress, lonely, or have other needs. The deacons also support our worship services and other ministries in a variety of behind the scenes efforts.

Staff
Our ministries are supported by a gifted and faithful church staff who fulfill various administrative and leadership responsibilities under the supervision of the session. For an introduction visit our Staff Page.

Committees

Greenwich is also organized through the work of committees who guide and fulfill the ministry and mission of the church.

Christian Education: Oversees the discipleship efforts of the church including the children’s ministry, youth ministry, adult education, nursery, and pre-school.

Congregational Life: Plans fellowship and enrichment opportunities to encourage caring community and growth. 

Mission: Supports local, regional, and global service and evangelism efforts through financial and hands-on activity.

Personnel: Administers the development, hiring, and care of the Greenwich Church staff.

Stewardship: Oversees the financial and business affairs of the church including compiling and administering the annual operating budget..

Worship:  Guides the worship life of the church including worship services, music ministry, and sacraments.
