The Organ

In 1949, a Hammond Electronic Organ was donated to the church as a gift of the Ellis Family. It replaced an old pump action organ that had been used previously, which had required the organist to "pump" the pedals up and down in order to maintain an air flow through the instrument. This Hammond Organ remained in the sanctuary until 1977, at which time a Conn Organ was donated by the Raymond Ellis Family in memory of John W. Ellis. The Conn Organ, a 2-manual with a partial "Princess" pedal board was used until it was replaced in December of 2005 by the donation of a new 3 manual digital Q325 Allen Organ. The Allen Organ, donated by Nancy Wiita in memory of the Ellis Family, contains a full pedal board , 16 different memory settings, 17 toe stud pistons, a MIDI interface box, and 4 completely different organs in one: American Classic, French Romantic, Neo-Baroque, and Orchestral. It was dedicated March 26, 2006 in a wonderful, well-attended recital by Michael Stairs of Philadelphia, PA.
