Softball
Softball has a long
history with Greenwich. In fact with over 30 years of existence, it
is practically a heritage of Greenwich. We are a co-ed, open aged
team (minimum age to play is 15). We participate in the
Manassas Church Softball
League (MCSL). The purpose of the Manassas Church Softball
League is to provide an athletic program for the churches in Greater
Manassas area with the following objectives:
- To build Christian character through opportunities for cooperative
supervised play.
- To build a spirit of fellowship and cooperation among the players
of various churches.
- To introduce non-Christians to Christ through the recreational
medium of softball.
Cor 9: 24-27 "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run,
but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They
do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown
that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running
aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my
body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I
myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
Col 3:12-14 "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly
loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,
gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever
grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord
forgave you."
We play mostly on Friday nights, mostly at Valley View Park. We play
in Division III out of VI divisions. All games are double headers,
but both are played within a two hour time limit with start times
being either 6:30 or 8:30. The schedule reflects any differences.
The games are good fellowship and good fun, and we appreciate any
fans who come and watch. The bigger our cheering section, the
better.
