“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Facility Planning Committee

Update - February 2008

Recent FPC Highlights:

*    Conducted architect interviews in early January.  Three local architects interviewed with regard to project approach, a sample design, experience and budget.

*    FPC unanimously recommended John Heltzel, AIA, located in Manassas, to be the project architect.  Session approved the recommendation at the January 22 Session meeting, and authorized the FPC to negotiate an architectural services contract with John Heltzel.

*    The FPC introduced John Heltzel (architect) and Terry Smith (construction manager) at the February 10 congregational meeting.  The floor was opened for questions on a variety of topics relating to the building project.

*    Four civil engineering interviews are scheduled for the week of March 10.  The civil engineer will work with the FPC and architect to develop a site plan and prepare the county Special Use Permit application.

*    The FPC is preparing to schedule a series of interviews with various Greenwich ministry areas to provide input for the architect on design features and room requirements for the new building.

Unity and reconciliation between all ethnic groups and people in Burma;

Freedom for all political prisoners, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi;

The security, food and medical supplies needed for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) in Burma;

The refugees from Burma (in Thailand, Bangladesh, India and other countries) to have hope they will return to their homes;

The migrant workers from Burma to be given fair treatment in neighboring countries;

The Burma Army and its dictators to open their hearts to God’s love and turn from the atrocities they commit;

For the message of Jesus Christ to be proclaimed and understood among the unreached people of Burma

“You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”  Matthew 5:43-45
