Louise Lyon is an Atlanta native.  She is a graduate of Agnes Scott College where she majored in music and was a student of Jay Fuller.  Further study with Despy Karlas at the University of Georgia led to a Masters degree in Piano Performance.  An MTNA Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, Lou is on the boards of Georgia Music Teachers Association and Greater Marietta Music Teachers Association.  She serves frequently as an adjudicator for piano competitions and auditions and maintains a teaching studio in Marietta.

Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

Pictorial Directory — DON’T REMAIN FACELESS!  We’ll be taking pictures for the Greenwich pictorial directory this Sunday.  If we don't have your picture for the directory, or you’d like to update the one we have visit us in Fellowship Hall between services.

Spiritual Gifts Class — In glorifying God we serve Him using the special spiritual gifts we possess.  Join us for five weeks, starting Wednesday, January 16th (dinner at 5:30, class from 6:00 to 7:00), as you discover the spiritual gifts God has given you.  To register for the class (deadline to register is January 15th), or for more information, contact the office at 703.754.7933 or office@greenwichpres.org.  Childcare is available on request.

Annual Report — All committees and organizations compiling a brief year-end report for inclusion in our 2007 Annual Report, can submit their reports to the church office at office@greenwichchurch.org.  The deadline for submitting the reports is January 20, 2008.  These reports will be shared at the Annual Winter Congregational Meeting on Sunday, February 10th at 6:00pm.

New Members Class — Our next new membership class will begin on Sunday, February 17th at 6:00pm.  If interested in attending, or for more information, contact the office at 703.754.7933 or office@greenwichpres.org.

Quilting — Join us at the church on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 9:30am to 12:00pm to sit and sew or learn the basics of quilt making.  Contact Lisa House at bikelshouse@aol.com or 703.594.2308 for more information.

Annual Congregational Meeting -  The Session has called our annual winter congregational meeting to be held on Sunday, February 10th at 6:00pm in Fellowship Hall.  The purpose of the meeting is to receive annual reports from our ministry areas, to approve recommended changes to Pastor’s terms of call, and to provide a time of open conversation on church life.

Child Protection Training — We are offering new dates for those wishing to go through Child Protection Training.  The dates are:  Friday, January 18th from 9:30 to 11:00am; and, Wednesday, January 23rd from 7:00 to 8:30pm.  For more information, contact Joy Yates at 703.754.7933 or children@greenwichpres.org.

Chancel/Handbell Choirs — Our Chancel and Handbell Choirs have resumed rehearsals.  Handbells rehearse at 6:00pm (directed by guest director, Debbie Gilbert), while the Chancel Choir begins rehearsals at 7:15pm.  We welcome all new ringers and singers!!  For more information, contact Lon Quinones at music@greenwichpres.org or 703.754.7933.

Youth Laser Tag — All Jr. and Sr. Highs are invited!  Join us on January 27th.  We’ll meet in Fellowship Hall at 2:00pm.  More information to follow. 

Saturday Sew and Soup — Attention all quilters!  Join us on February 2nd from 9:00am to 3:00pm in Fellowship Hall.  This is a chance to work on all the projects that you’ve been putting off.  You must bring:  sewing machines, extension cords, cutting materials, irons and ironing boards, and your project materials.  Community service projects will be available for you to work on, should you choose.  If you’ll be attending, please contact Lisa House at bikelshouse@aol.com or 703.594.2308.

Book Swap — This February, we will hold our first ever Book Swap.  On February 10 and 17th, children and adults can bring in used (but in good shape) books to the church and receive a ticket for each book given.  On Sunday, February 24th, the tickets can be used to “buy” other books at the Book Swap.  If you have questions, or would like to volunteer to help, contact Joy Yates at 703.754.7933 or children@greenwichpres.org. 

Piano Recital — Please join us in the Sanctuary on Saturday, February 2nd, at 7:00pm, for a piano recital by Louise Lyon (Margo Truslow’s sister).  A reception will follow.  Childcare is provided.  For more information, contact Lon Quinones at music@greenwichpres.org.

Collection for CareNet — During the month of January we will be collecting for CareNet.  They are in need of clothing, diapers, baby wipes, blankets, etc.  Items can be placed in the collection bin in Fellowship Hall.      

Presbyterian Women’s Prayer Breakfast — “Pray Without Ceasing — An Ecumenical Celebration of Prayer for Christian Unity”— Join us on Saturday, January 19th, from 9:00am to 12:30pm, at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC.  For more information, or if you’d like to carpool, please contact Peggy Een at 540.341.3693.  Cost is $10 per person.  The deadline to register is January 14th.
