Snow Team Members Needed!

Willing to help us “shovel out” when the snow hits?  Then, we’d love to have you join our Snow Team.

We especially need people willing to help out on Sunday mornings.

If you’d like to be a part of the team, contact Paula Cooper at volunteers@greenwichpres.org

Volunteers Needed!

The Transitional Housing B.A.R.N. needs help during the next week to stuff and label their annual Christmas mailing.  B.A.R.N. provides housing, supportive services, education for homeless women and their children.  This would be a great simple mission project for a family or small group to do during the week before Christmas.  What a great opportunity to support a local mission and remind us of the true joy that comes from giving at Christmas!  If you are interested, please contact Kim Langan, B.A.R.N. Volunteer Coordinator at 703.369.1325 or volunteercoord@barninc.org as soon as possible.

Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

Dear Children (and Parents) — I am so, so sorry that I ran out of cupcakes during last week’s Children’s Sermon.  If you did not get one, please find my basket in the deacon’s area of the church at both services this Sunday and take one.  I followed the recipe again for the cake, and I hope you will follow the recipe for being a Christian.  In Christ’s love, Mrs. Heckathorn.

Special Music —This Sunday we welcome the following guest musicians:  Heather Austin Stone (violin), Teresa Gordon (violin), Jason Diggs (viola), Cruz Taylor Almao (cello), Mark Cooke (trumpet), and Shannon Gunn (trumpet/trombone).

Children’s Christmas Pageant — We will not be rehearsing this Sunday.  Next Sunday, December 23rd, we will rehearse at 9:00.  We will also rehearse at 12:15pm, following a pizza lunch.

Faith Village Chorale — The Faith Village Chorale children’s choir will present their Christmas Pageant at the 5:30pm service on Christmas Eve.

No Jr. Church Sunday— There will be no Jr. Church this Sunday so that families can enjoy our Chancel Choir Christmas program together.  We will have Jr. Church on December 23rd.

Mitten Tree – The Mitten Tree is up!  We are collecting mittens, scarves, gloves or socks.  The donated items will be given to SERVE and the Fauquier Family Shelter.

Open House at the Meeks’ — The whole church family is invited!  This Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00pm.  Come when you can and leave when you must.  Please see the bulletin insert for more information and directions.

Angel Tree Gifts and Stockings Distribution — We could use your help to work with the DC Salvation Army to distribute Angel Tree gifts and stockings to the inner city families on December 17-19.  This will be done at 3300 New York Avenue, Washington, DC.  It is near the Bladensburg intersection, across from the Arboretum.  This is a special time where you can share your hands and hearts as we help others to have a happy Christmas.  You may volunteer for any length of time.  We car pool.  Call Nancy Pittman at 703.743.5314 if you’d like to help or have any questions.

Youth Choir — The Youth Choir will not meet on December 16th.  We will start up again on January 20th.

Pictorial Directory — DON’T REMAIN FACELESS!  We’ll  be taking pictures for the Greenwich pictorial directory during Sunday’s All Church Breakfast.  If we don’t yet have your picture, or you’d like the one we have updated, see Jim Pittman upstairs in the Sunday School area after 9:30am.  We will also be taking pictures in January.  Watch the bulletin for more details.

Cookbooks — We are running out!  These make terrific Christmas presents.  The cost is $15 each.  Please contact the church office at 703.754.7933 or office@greenwichpres.org or see a member of Circle 4 if you’re interested in purchasing one.

Woodbridge Flute Choir in Concert — Start your Christmas season on a merry note!  Join us for a delightful performance of seasonal and classical favorites by this unique ensemble.  The flute choir will be joined by Angela Knight, lyric soprano, and David Crookston, harpist.  TODAY at 4:00pm here at Greenwich!  This is a benefit concert for Farthest Corners.

Birthday Party for Jesus — Please join us in Fellowship Hall after the 5:30pm service on Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birthday of Christ.  You can bring donations of baby gifts, i.e., clothing, diapers, etc.  These will be given to CareNet.

Snow Patrol — Winter is coming!  We have volunteer Snow Patrol captains for each day of the week to shovel the sidewalks.  If you are interested in helping by wielding a snow shovel, spreading ice melt, or running the snow blower, please contact Paula Cooper at pcooper@greenwichpres.org or Paul Ruby at 703.753.1492.  A short training session is being planned to familiarize us with the snow blower.

Year End Contribution — Please note that we are requesting your final 2007 contributions be in the office by Sunday, December 30, 2007.  Contributions received after December 30 will be posted to the 2008 budget.  Thank you!

“But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”  Luke 1:30-33
