Make a Good Life Club Packet

 

            The Good Life Club was started by Christians Concerned for Burma and comes from John 10:10, where Jesus promises abundant life. It is especially applicable to children who are on the run, hiding with their families in the jungles of Burma. Packets provide a small bundle of joy from people around the world, giving hope and love to thousands of children in Burma

When Austin House returns to the mission field in Thailand/Burma he hopes to have dozens of Good Life Club packets to take with him for distribution to mothers and children.

 

You can help make this happen. Here’s how:

 

1.         Collect these items:

 

For mothers and Infants               For children

 

- Multivitamins for Mom           - Small comb and mirror

- Pediatric vitamins                    - A box of children’s

 -Small fingernail clippers          chewable vitamins

- Stocking caps, mittens and   - 2 child size toothbrushes

   knit shirt                                   - A drawing or photo of  

- A drawing or photo of you     your group

- A postcard from your town   - Fingernail clippers

  or state                                 - A small toy

- A teether      

-- 1 adult size toothbrush           

 

  1. Put everything in a sturdy ziplock bag and put it in the box marked “Good Life Club” located in the Fellowship Hall.

We’ll be donating items to the pediatric wing of Fauquier Hospital to help children with respiratory issues.

 

They are in need of the following:

 

Bottles of bubbles

Pinwheels

Whistles and slides

Coloring books

CDs with children’s music

Radio/CD players

 

Please drop off donations in the box marked

“Christmas in July” in Fellowship Hall.

 

We are also receiving monetary donations (make the check out to Greenwich Presbyterian Church and write “Christmas in July” in memo section of check) and can purchase many of the above items in bulk.

Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

 

Congratulations!  -  Congratulations to Zack and Angela Rogers upon the birth of their daughter, Laurel, on Tuesday, July 10th!  Proud brother is Jacob.

 

Special Music —This Sunday we welcome our Ladies Ensemble (Margaret Mayhugh, Kathy Naylor, Linda Spittle, and Sylva Webb) to the 11:00 service.

 

No Jr. Church Sunday— Children will attend the worship service with their parents.  We have put together Wee Worship Kits for the kids to use during worship services.  These are located in the back of the sanctuary.  After the service, please return these to the back of the sanctuary, so they’ll be there for the children at the next service.  Wee Church for children ages 2-preK will continue year round.

 

Women’s Retreat — We’re continuing to sign up ladies who would like to attend.  If you’d like to find out more, see our registration table in Fellowship Hall.

 

All Youth!!! — Youth bible study and youth group will not be held in July.  We will resume on August 2nd.

 

Babysitting Course — We’ll be offering a Red Cross sponsored babysitting course on Thursday, August 9th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.  The cost is $35/per person.  To sign up, please contact the office at 703.754.7933 or office@greenwichpres.org.

 

Second Saturday — The Second Saturday group will not meet during July and August.  Our next get-together will take place on September 8th, at 6:00pm, in Fellowship Hall.

 

Mission Explosion! — While mission is an integral part of life at Greenwich, during the month of July special emphasis will be placed on some of our mission projects.

July 22—Farthest Corners missionary and Greenwich member, Austin House, will

                be re-commissioned prior to his return to Thailand/Burma.

July 29—Pastor Juan Linero and his family will be with us at worship to share

                news of their service in Mexico.

 

Christmas in July — We’ll be celebrating on July 29th at all three services.  This year we will again be donating items to the pediatric wing of Fauquier Hospital.   This year we will be donating items to help them while treating children with respiratory issues.  They are in need of the following:   bottles of bubbles, pinwheels, whistles and slides, coloring books, CDs with children’s music, radio/CD players.  We will also collect monetary donations and can purchase many of the above items in bulk.

 

Picnic Planned to Honor Austin — Join us this Sunday, July 22nd, at 5:30pm, as we honor Austin House prior to his return to Thailand.  The Congregational Life committee will provide sub sandwiches (one of Austin’s favorite foods).  Everyone is invited to come and bring a salad or dessert to share.  Bring your Good Life Club packets to the picnic.  Austin will take them to our friends in Burma.

 

Plant-A-Row — The collection for Plant-A-Row for the Hungry has begun and will run through mid-October.  Please bring your vegetables and fruit to church.  There will be a collection cart out in front of the sanctuary.
