Make a Good Life Club Packet

The Good Life Club was started by Christians Concerned for Burma and comes from John 10:10, where Jesus promises abundant life. It is especially applicable to children who are on the run, hiding with their families in the jungles of Burma. Packets provide a small bundle of joy from people around the world, giving hope and love to thousands of children in Burma

When Austin House returns to the mission field in Thailand/Burma he hopes to have dozens of Good Life Club packets to take with him for distribution to mothers and children.

You can help make this happen. Here’s how:

Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

Church Picnic — Our annual all church picnic will take place this Sunday after the 11:00 service.  Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided along with drinks.  The congregation is asked to bring picnic side dishes and desserts to share.  Plan on joining us for food, fun and family games!

No Jr. Church Sunday— Children will attend the worship service with their parents.  As a reminder, there are children’s bulletins on the back table in the sanctuary for the children to use.  We hope this will be a time for our children to experience the entire worship service with their family, learning how to use the pew bibles, the hymnal, giving to the offering, praying and experiencing communion.  Wee Church for children ages 2-preK will continue year round.

Women’s Retreat — We’re continuing to sign up ladies who would like to attend.  If you’d like to find out more, see our registration table in Fellowship Hall.

All Youth!!! — Youth bible study and youth group will not be held in July.  We will resume in August.

Jr. High Youth — Join us on Wednesday, July 11th, for putt putt golf and ice cream.  Meet at the Broad Run Golf Course at 6:30pm for a few games of putt-putt.  Have your parents pick you up at 8:30pm at Kline’s Ice Cream (just two blocks east on 28).  For more information, contact the Jason or Sue Ellen Kinser at 703.392.3989.

Youth Mission Trip Training — We’ll meet on July 5th (time TBA).

Happy 65th Anniversary!  —  We congratulate Heywood and Mary Anne Hanback on their 65th wedding anniversary!

Volunteer Opportunity — We are looking for volunteers to teach Jr. High Sunday School during July and August.  If you can help, contact Paula Cooper at volunteers@greenwichpres.org.

Babysitting Course — We’ll be offering a Red Cross sponsored babysitting course on Thursday, August 9th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.  The cost is $35/per person.  To sign up, please contact the office at 703.754.7933 or office@greenwichpres.org.

Christmas in July — We’ll be celebrating on July 29th at all three services.  This year we will again be donating items to the pediatric wing of Fauquier Hospital.   This year we will be donating items to help them while treating children with respiratory issues.  They are in need of the following:   bottles of bubbles, pinwheels, whistles and slides, coloring books, DVDs with children’s music, radio/dvd players.  We will also collect monetary donations and can purchase many of the above items in bulk.

Congratulations!  — This week we congratulate Debbie and Carlos Vanegas on the birth of their son, Alexander Wilson, and Lana and Jay Thomas on the birth of their daughter, Leianna Rae.

Greenwich Shirts — If you ordered a Greenwich shirt, they are ready for pick up!  We’ll be distributing these at the church picnic on Sunday, or you can pick them up from the office during the week.  If you have not yet ordered a t-shirt, but would like to do so, visit the display in Fellowship Hall anytime.  $4 from the sale of each shirt will go to benefit the Youth Mission Trip at the end of this month.

Cookbooks Are In — If you are interested in purchasing a cookbook ($15 each), please contact Susan Boyd at 703.754.2846 or boydplum@msn.com.

Change for Life — Baby bottles are available in the Fellowship Hall Sunday in case you missed getting one last Sunday.  Your loose change donations will benefit CareNet Pregnancy Resource Centers Ministry.  The bottles can be returned when filled or on August 19th or August 26th.  If you have any questions, please contact our liaison, Pam Lynn, at 703.754.1899.

Don’t Forget to Sign In!  — In order to effectively serve our church family, the Deacons have been asked to develop a plan to communicate with members who have been absent for several weeks.  We are asking you to remember to sign in the Friendship Register when you attend services.  A special reminder to Sunday school teachers, choir members and staff — we want you to be counted too!  If you’re absent for several consecutive weeks, you will be contacted.  We want you to know that in your absence, you are missed!!
