Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

 

Youth Confirmation Class — On June 18-22, all youth (rising 6th grade and above) are invited to participate in a confirmation class taught by Pastor Meeks.  The class will begin at 10:00am and conclude with lunch each day.  To register, please contact the church office at office@greenwichpres.org or 703.754.7933.

 

Farthest Corners Benefit — Come to a barbecue dinner to support Farthest Corners.  Bring the family OR bring dinner home to them.  Saturday, June 16th, from 4:30pm until the barbecue is gone.  $10.00 per adult, $5.00 per child.  Join us for this special treat for dad!

 

Women’s Retreat — We’re continuing to sign up ladies who would like to attend.  If you’d like to find out more, see our registration table in Fellowship Hall.

 

Child Protection Training Dates — We will be offering training on Wednesday, June 13th, from 7:00 to 8:15pm.  Please register at office@greenwichpres.org or 703.754.7933.  Childcare is available upon request.

 

Senior High Youth and Families — Celebrate the graduating seniors this Sunday at the church.  We’ll gather at 4:00pm to visit and play games before dinner at 5:00pm.  Meats and dessert (cake) will be provided; please bring a side dish or salad to share.  RSVP by calling Mary Crigler at 703.368.0539 or Leslie McMillan at 703.754.1913. 

 

June Communion — Communion for the month of June, will take place on Father’s Day, June 17th.

 

June Mission Collection — This month we are collecting for SERVE.  Specific items needed are:  canned vegetables, mixed vegetables, toilet tissue, paper towels, and cleaning products.  As always, any other food or paper products will be accepted.

 

Baptisms — This Sunday  we celebrate a baptism at each service.  At 8:15, Hannah Lynn Johnson, daughter of Brad and Jennifer Johnson; at 9:30, Jack William Berberoglu, son of Sinan and Dina Berberoglu; and at 11:00, Katherine Camille Hall, daughter of Todd and Melinda Hall.

 

Special Music — We welcome Wayne Houk to our services this Sunday.

 

All Youth!!!

                June 10th — Senior Recognition — 9:30am in Fellowship Hall

                                       Senior Grad Party — 4:00pm in Fellowship Hall

                June 17th — No youth group for Father’s Day

                Youth bible study and youth group will not be held in July.  We will resume

                 in August.

 

VBS Needs — We’re collecting clean 16 oz. water bottles.  We needs the lids, but it would be great if you could remove the labels.  There is a labeled box in Fellowship Hall for these to be placed.

 

Greenwich Shirts — We now have our own shirts!!  Short-sleeved t-shirts and golf shirts at $10 each, and long-sleeved t-shirts are $12.  $4 from the sale of each shirt will go to benefit the Youth Mission Trip in July.  Sold this Sunday before and after all services, or visit the display in Fellowship Hall anytime.

 

Cookbooks Are In — If you are interested in purchasing a cookbook ($15 each), please contact Susan Boyd at 703.754.2846 or boydplum@msn.com.

 

Save the Date — Our annual All Church Picnic will take place on Sunday, July 1st, after the 11:00 service.  Plan on joining us for food, fun and family games!

 

Change for Life — On Sunday, June 17th, we’ll be handing out baby bottles to benefit CareNet Pregnancy Resource Centers.  Collect your loose change and return these on August 19th or 26th.  You can pick one up outside the Sanctuary or in Fellowship Hall.  If you have any questions, please contact our liaison, Pam Lynn, at 703.754.1899.

 

Don’t Forget to Sign In!  — In order to effectively serve our church family, the Deacons have been asked to develop a plan to communicate with members who have been absent for several weeks.  We are asking you to remember to sign in the Friendship Register when you attend services.  A special reminder to Sunday school teachers, choir members and staff — we want you to be counted too!  If you’re absent for several consecutive weeks, you will be contacted.  We want you to know that in your absence, you are missed!!
