Congregational Meeting Results

The Greenwich church family gathered on Sunday May 20th for an important meeting to act on a motion brought by the Session.   Attendance for the meeting was strong, the discussion was thoughtful, passionate, and above all, respectful.  This was Greenwich at its best!

After 90 minutes of discussion, the question put to the congregation was:  “Shall the recommendations of the Ministry Planning Committee be incorporated into the building plan?”  With 137 votes cast, the motion carried by a count of 108 – YES and 29 – NO.

On Tuesday, May 22, following the congregational meeting, the Session met for its regular monthly meeting and directed the Facility Planning Committee (consisting of members from the 2000 building committee and newly appointed members) begin the  architect selection process.    Though a date was not set, the Session anticipates a mid-summer Congregational meeting to introduce the architect and share any other information related to the building plans.

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord,

“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Child Protection Training Has Begun!  — In an effort to better protect our children, youth and church, Greenwich has implemented a child protection program.  To that end, anyone (6th grade through adult) volunteering with children and/or youth must go through a child protection training program and screening.  Several sessions will be offered throughout the year to make sure everyone has the opportunity to attend this training.  If you are assisting with Vacation Bible School, you must go through this program no later than June 10th.  All volunteers with children/youth must have this training completed by September in order to assist with these programs.  If you have any questions or would like to see a copy of the Greenwich Child Protection Policy and Procedures, please contact Joy Yates at children@greenwichpres.org.
