Calling all members of the Greenwich church family!!

 

Congregational Meeting

May 20, 2007

6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

To be held in the Sanctuary

 

The purpose of this important meeting on May 20th

is to vote on the following motion:

“Shall the recommendations of the Ministry Planning Committee

be incorporated into the building plan?”

 

In order to assist members of the congregation in making their decision, informational meetings have been scheduled:

Saturday, May 12 at 9:00 a.m.

Sunday, May 20 at 5:00 p.m.

[All meetings will be held in the sanctuary and have identical format]

 

An Informational Packet has been prepared and will be available for pick up in the sanctuary, church office, and Fellowship Hall.  The packet may also be viewed through our church web-site http://greenwichpres.org under the Recent Additions heading on the right-hand column click “Congregational Meeting Materials.”  The packet includes the following information:

1. Copy of presentation to be made at informational meetings

2. Summary from 1998 Facility Planning “Hellstern Report”

3. Building Plan from 2000 (from financial campaign mailing)

4. Ministry Planning Committee presentation October 2006

 

 

Please review the background materials, plan to attend and vote on the 20th, and pray that God would give us love, clarity, and unity as we seek to serve his purposes!!

We are looking for an additional gas-powered push lawn mower to be used at Harry Clark’s home throughout the summer.

Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

 

Youth Confirmation Class — On June 18-22, all youth (rising 6th grade and above) are invited to participate in a confirmation class taught by Pastor Meeks.  The class will begin at 10:00am and conclude with lunch each day.  To register, please contact the church office at office@greenwichpres.org or 703.754.7933.

 

Important Congregational Meeting — The session has called a congregational meeting to be held on Sunday, May 20th, 6:00-8:00pm.  This important meeting is for the purpose of clarifying the 200 building plan and to seek congregational approval to incorporate the recommendations of the Ministry Planning Committee of October 2006 into the plan.  Prior to the congregational meeting, we will be holding an informational meetings on Saturday, May 12th, at 9:00am, and Sunday, May 20th, at 5:00pm.  Please continue in our Season of Prayer as we seek to fulfill God’s purposes for Greenwich.

 

VBS Sign Up Has Started!  — Be sure to sign up your family early, adults included.  You won’t want to miss this Wild West adventure to Avalanche Ranch. 

 

Cookbooks Are In — Just in time for Mother’s Day!  If you pre-ordered a cookbook, pick it up today.  We are also selling the cookbooks for $15 each, for those who were not able to pre-order.  We’ll be selling from 9:00 to 9:30am, 10:30 to 11:00am, and 12:00 to 12:30pm.

 

Parents of Graduating Seniors — If you have a child that is graduating from high school or college, we would like to recognize them and celebrate their accomplishment.  Please contact the church office at office@greenwichpres.org or 703.754.7933 with their information.

 

Shenandoah University Student Organ/Piano Recital — Please join us on Saturday, May 19th, at 7:00pm, as we welcome Annie Hof.

 

Youth Group Outing to See the Nats! — We’ll be heading up to DC on Friday, May 18th, to see the Nationals/Orioles baseball game.  All Jr. Highs and Sr. Highs are invited.  The cost will be no more than $15.00.  If interested, contact Chasity Spittle by Tuesday, May 15th, at youth@greenwichpres.org or 703.753.9421.

Mission Committee Sponsored Yard Sale — This years yard sale will take place on Saturday, June 2nd, from 7:00am to 2:00pm in the Greenwich parking lot.  Spaces are available for rent for $35.00.  If you need a table, let us know.  We’ll have food for sale all day (breakfast items, drinks, hot dogs, hamburgers, and snacks).  All proceeds from this yard sale will fund mission work — local and not so local.  Questions?  Contact Chuck Boyd at 703.754.2846.

 

May Mission Partner — Please help us support the Fauquier Family Shelter during the month of May.  Items requested include:  toilet paper, paper towels, healthy kid snacks, and feminine hygiene products.  As always, all items are accepted and appreciated.

 

Music Safari Adventure — All preschoolers are invited to join this summer music camp, June 4th to 8th, from 10:00am to 12:00pm.  The cost is $60.00 per child, with a $10.00 registration fee per family.  For more information, contact Sue Ellen Kinser at 703.392.3989.

 

Child Protection Training Has Begun!  — In an effort to better protect our children, youth and church, Greenwich has implemented a child protection program.  To that end, anyone (6th grade through adult) volunteering with children and/or youth must go through a child protection training program and screening.  Several sessions will be offered throughout the year to make sure everyone has the opportunity to attend this training.  If you are assisting with Vacation Bible School, you must go through this program no later than June 10th.  All volunteers with children/youth must have this training completed by September in order to assist with these programs.  If you have any questions or would like to see a copy of the Greenwich Child Protection Policy and Procedures, please contact Joy Yates at children@greenwichpres.org.

 

All Sunday School Parents — A reminder to all parents to please pick up your children immediately following the 9:30 service prior to enjoying your morning coffee and fellowship.   This will allow our teachers ample time to pick up their own children, enjoy fellowship and get ready for the 11:00 worship service. 

 

Wedding Ring — A wedding ring was found in Fellowship Hall about 10 days ago.  If you are the owner, please contact the church office at office@greenwichpres.org or 703.754.7933.
