Opportunities for Study, Service and Fellowship

 

 

Fall Sunday School Has Begun!  Children in Faith Village Sunday School (Grades K-6) will begin each Sunday in the Gathering Room (choir room) and will then be lead to their workshop for the morning.  Parents are reminded that they will need to pick up their children at 10:30am at their child's classroom.  Questions? Wednesday Night Pastor’s Class—Begins September 20th! Wednesday’s from 6:30 to 7:30pm in Fellowship Hall. Open to all interested in learning more about the Bible. Childcare provided. For more information, please contact Don Meeks at dmeeks@greenwichpres.org or 703.754.7933.

 

Plant-A-Row for the Hungry pick-up will be every Sunday from July 23rd until October 1st.  The bin will be located in front of the Church, look for the sign.  The Mission Committee thanks you for your support of Plant-A-Row and SERVE.

 

Youth Sunday School— We invite all 7th-12th graders to join us Sunday mornings at 9:30am.  The Junior High Class (7th and 8th graders) and Senior High Class (9th thru 12th graders) will meet separately in their respective Sunday School rooms.  Questions?  Contact Chasity Spittle at chasity@cuddlystuff.com or 703.753.9421.

 

Just 4 Youth — Youth Group will be held the first and third Sunday’s of every month.  The first meeting will be held at the church this Sunday, September 17th, from 6:00-8:00pm.  All 6th-12th graders are invited!

 

Piano Dedication — Please join us next Sunday, September 24th, at all three services, as we dedicate our new Kawai grand piano, donated by the Spittle family.

 

Choir Retreat — The Chancel Choir will take their fall retreat to Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville on Saturday, September 23rd, from 8:00am-4:00pm.  Contact Lon Quinones at lquinones@greenwichpres.org for more information.

 

Welcome! — We welcome Shirley Giles Davis to worship Sunday, September 17th, as she brings the morning message as part of our Faith in Life Weekend.  Shirley lives in Boulder, Colorado, where she serves on the staff of First Presbyterian Church as the Director of Lay Ministries.

 

Handbell Choir -- Handbells have started back up, and we’d love to have new members!  Rehearsals are Wednesday nights, 6:00 to 7:15 pm.  For more information, please contact Holleyanne McDaniel at holleyanne@yahoo.com or 703.496.3114.

 

There's a place for YOU in the Chancel Choir!  We welcome new members into the Chancel Choir this fall.  We rehearse from 7:30-8:30pm on Wednesday evenings and sing at the 11:00 service.  Come join the choir!

 

Children’s Choir — We have exciting plans this fall!  Practices begin this Sunday at 9:00am.  Children in grades K-6th are invited!

 

Congratulations!  — Congratulations to Jim and Cherie Griffis upon the birth of their daughter, Chelsea, on Wednesday, August 23rd!  Chelsea joins siblings Justin, Haley and Lauren.

 

Thursday Morning Playgroup — Are you looking for something to do on Thursday mornings with your young children?  Join other moms in the church for a playgroup at 10:00am.  We are meeting in our homes and the location changes each week, so contact Meredith Hinkey at mrhinkey@comcast.net or 703.598.6168 for details.  We’d love to have you join us!

 

Calling All Cooks! — Circle 4 is putting together a new Greenwich Presbyterian Cookbook and we need your recipes!  Greenwich is full of great cooks — women and men.  Please put your recipes in the basket across from the office door.  They need to be typed or very neatly handwritten.  If there’s a story behind the recipe you can add that, too.  We hope to have the cookbook available by Christmas.  If you prefer, you can also email your recipe to Susan Boyd at boydplum@msn.com. 

 

Women of Faith 2007 Conference — Reservations are available for the 2007 “Amazing Freedom” Women of Faith Conference, July 13-14, 2007, at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.  Registration is $129.  We have 12 tickets and 3 hotel rooms reserved.  The shared hotel rate is $51 per person.  Ten women from Greenwich attended the 2006 “Contagious Joy” conference and we were all filled with joy, inspiration, and praise for our God.  We’d love to have you join us in 2007!  To reserve your ticket or for more information, please call Pam Lynn at 703.754.1899.

 

Eyeglass Recycling — In the first four months of our recycling program, we have collected 40 pairs of glasses!  To donate your used glasses, place them in the Lions Recycling for Sight collection box located on the table outside the church office.
