Announcements 

 

 

Open House at the Meeks’ Sunday, December 18, 2:00-5:00pm. To celebrate the season and to express our gratitude to our church family, we would like to invite the members ad friends of Greenwich to as Open House at our home (1489 Greenhill Crossing Drive, Haymarket). Dress casually, come when you can and leave when you must! Contact us at 703.753.9745.

 

Choir & Bell Rehearsal—Saturday, December 17, 9:00am-12:00pm, Sanctuary.

 

Mitten Tree – Until December 18th, the Mitten Tree is in the social hall, collecting mittens, scarves, gloves or socks, unwrapped, draped over the branches, delivered to SERVE and Fauquier Family Shelter. Call the church office, 703.754.7933 for info.

 

Christmas Music Program— Sunday, December 18, featuring the Chancel Choir, the Children’s Choir and the Handbell Choir. Two performances: 8:15 and 11:00am.

 

Ministry Planning—Sunday, December 11, 9:30am for elementary children’s parents. Meet in the downstairs classrooms for discussions on ideas for the future.

 

Christmas Holiday Bake Sale—Today! Sunday, December 11, in the Fellowship Hall during all three services.  If you are in need of some cookie platters or delicious pies, stop by and support missions!

Mission Food Collection  - Donations for FISH collected SUNDAY, December 11, thank you!

 

Family Advent Nights— Today, December 11, 5:30-7:30pm,  Fellowship Hall. Please come and celebrate Christ’s birth by helping with Mission Activities! Please sign up; dinner is provided. Contact Joy Yates, 703.754.7933 for more information.

Poinsettia Memorial Order now! Please complete the insert and place in the offering plate, or call the church office at 703.754.7933, or email gpclizmorrison@comcast.net. Your check for $20 to the church is placed in the offering or mailed to the church.

Salvation Army Toyland! December 15: Toyland Shopping & December 19-20-21: Angel Tree DistributionWould you be able to share your time, hands and heart to help with the Salvation Army Toyland for the inner-city families in DC?  All are grateful for the toys and gifts they receive. Book Worms Unite! A book club just for you - Children age 10 and up will be invited to a new book club hosted by both Karen Blocker and Sharon Krasny.  Beginning January 13 at 6:30 PM we will meet once a month to discuss:  The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Tuck Everlasting, The Hobbit, Eragon, and Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh.  Contact Karen Blocker at 703-330-1303 mkb2travel@hotmail.com .

 

West Virginia Mission Trip:  Leave Greenwich 12:00pm. Friday, December 16 for Gilbert, West Virginia.  We will deliver items purchased by the Mission Committee  donated by our congregation.  We participate in a work project, then return to Greenwich Saturday evening.  Contact Charlie Coe (ccoe119@comcast.net or 703-393-9384. Donations of new household items are being received in Fellowship Hall.

Thanks to all of the folks who assisted with the sanctuary renovation project, the new organ project and the new carpet project. Praise the Lord!

 

Fauquier Family Shelter— December 15, 6:00-8:00pm. We welcome the residents of the shelter and the shelter staff, who will have their annual Christmas Party in the Fellowship Hall. Thanks to the Girls Scouts who are working to provide some 40 children with goodie bags, and to other community churches for providing the meal.

 

Christmas Breakfast Potluck— Sunday, December 18, the Chancel Choir, Bell Choir and Children’s Choir will lead us in a musical worship service at  8:15 and 11:00. There will not be a 9:30 service but will enjoy an all church potluck breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited to bring a favorite breakfast “dish” to share!

Christmas Eve Services— Saturday, December 24

****** 5:30pm– oriented to families with young children, with a Christmas Pageant. Nursery is provided. Christmas Party for Jesus, baby gifts donated to CareNet.

****** 7:30pm– traditional worship service with Chancel Choir. Nursery provided.

***** 11:00pm– candlelight service with carols and communion.

 

Christmas Day Service—Sunday, December 25, 10:00am. Worship at one service.

 

Youth Fellowship Opportunities

 

Family Advent Nights: You and your family are invited the next three Sunday evenings (Dec  11th, & 18th  5:30-7:30) for fun evenings of food, games, singing, and a mission project as we prepare together to celebrate the birth of the Christ child. This is a really fun way to get to know other families in the church. Be sure to RSVP with the church office if you or your family is coming.

 

Narinia:  We will go after church to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe after church on Sunday, December 11. Please RSVP by 12/9 so I can purchase enough advance tickets.

 

West Virginia Mission Trip:  The mission committee is sponsoring a family mission trip to West Virginia, December 16 & 17. Please prayerfully consider if God might be calling you to serve others in this way. If you cannot go, donations of new linens and other household items are needed for the team to deliver
