Hurricane Katrina Relief Responses –  Please come to church Sunday to find out more of Greenwich’s response to the terrible conditions in New Orleans and areas hit. Please note that our Presbytery is preparing to respond and asks for cash donation. www.pcusa.org. Checks made payable to Greenwich will go to our own mission response, and checks made out to Presbytery will be sent to that relief fund.

Children’s Ministry Team Mixer Tonight!! Friday, September 9 at 7:00pm for all CMT volunteers.

 

International DinnerTomorrow! The Second Saturday group invites all to culinary delights in the Fellowship Hall on September 10, 2005 at 6:30pm. Also, stop by our bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall.

 

Theology Matters -   The Hinkey Family & Pastor Don Meeks will host a Theology Roundtable at the Hinkey home (13104 Fitzwater Dr., Nokesville), September 18, 6:00-8:00pm. All topics are on the table! Contact either Brett at brett@hinkeycompany.com or Meredith at  703.598.6168.

College Students - It is time to update to our list of college students, being mindful of their time away, learning and growing. Parents, please submit your college student’s name and contact information to gpclizmorrison@comcast.net. Thank you to all who have sent addresses in to date.

Children’s Choir– Begins Sunday! We welcome children ages 5 & up each Sunday in the choir room at 8:45am. Contact Mary Beran, Children’s Choir Dir. 540.347.5359.

 

Tent Meeting Revival– The community is invited to Greenwich Church nightly September 23,24 and 25 for open air services under a large tent. Sponsors are Greenwich Presbyterian, Little Zion Baptist and Oak Dale Baptist who provide food at 6:00pm and music at 6:45pm. The worship services are from 7:30.

Mission Program Meeting - Saturday, October 1, 9:30 to 11:30am. the Mission Committee will be holding an informational session with potential Mission Partners for the 2006 year. Representatives from Fellowship of Christian Athletes,  Mary’s Family, Campus Crusade for Life and China Mission Outreach will be there.  Anyone interested attending may contact Charlie Coe (ccoe119@comcast.net or 703-393-9394)

 

Fall Leadership/Teacher Training—Saturday, October 1, 2005. Please contact Joy Yates or the church office at 703.754.7933 for more information on the training workshops by Presbytery at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC

 

Adult New Member Class—  Sundays, October 2,  9 & 16, from 6:00-8:00pm. Meet in the sanctuary from 6:30-8:00pm following an optional dinner here at 6:00pm.  The class is intended to be a time of discovery for those interested in learning more about the Christian faith, the distinctives of the Presbyterian tradition, and how to become more involved at Greenwich.  There is no obligation to join for those who attend the class.  We invite all friends of the church (or members who want a refresher!).  To register for the class, please email Liz at gpcsecretary@comcast.net, or call the church office at 703-754-7933 for more information.  Child care will be available

 

 

 Mary’s Family Returns to Greenwich on October 8th. Mary’s Family is a respite program for families of children with special needs, held the second Saturday of every month at churches throughout the area.  When at Greenwich in July, over 20 youth and adult volunteers from our church volunteer worked with the children who spend the day at Mary’s Family. We hope that those who helped this summer will be back for another fun day and welcome new faces as well.  Please contact Charlie or Ben Coe, 703-393-9384 ccoe119@comcast.net for more on Mary’s Family.

 

Harry Potter fans age 9-13.  Explore the “Half Blood Prince” together with other Harry Potter fans?  On October 16th from 3:00pm - 5:00pm we will be gathering at the Krasny house to do just that. Sign up by contacting Sharon Krasny at 703-753-0301 or emailing skrasna@aol.com.  Space is limited to the first 20 who respond so call now.

 

Monday Night Prayer Group – Come join us as we pray the needs of the church. 6:30pm in the Office.

 

New Times for Walking Exercise -  Come every Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30am in the Fellowship Hall or Tu We Th nights from 6:00-6:35pm!  We will be walking our way to a healthier heart, following a video lesson. Contact Charlene Welch  at 703.368.1001 or call the church office, 703.754.7933.

 

Membership Data -  The church office is seeking volunteers to assist in data entry to get our new database in place. Contact Liz at gpclizmorrison@comcast.net.  There is a work area for all to utilize.

DC Youth Mission Trip........November 4-6, 2005

 

Our first regular Sunday night youth group program will be Sunday, 10/2 from 6-8. We will enjoy dinner together (families welcome), singing and lots of games. You are welcome to bring your favorite board game, or enjoy all the games that were given to the youth group last Spring by youth group members. Of course, friends are always welcome. **Prayer and Fasting— You are encouraged to join the Call to Prayer and Fasting for the Greenwich Church Family now until Labor Day by praying daily to seek God’s favor as He guides us in His work through the Ministry Planning Committee and us all. Pamphlets in the back of the sanctuary.

 

**Flowers: We welcome anyone wishing to honor a special person or occasion to do so through a donation of Sunday sanctuary flowers. There is a calendar and clipboard with forms outside the  church  office that you may use to indicate which Sunday you would like to provide the sanctuary flowers.  Please place your form and check in the collection plate or the office. The flowers are preordered to arrive every Sunday, so call the church office if you have made other arrangements.

 

**Church Calendar: The church event calendars are on the wall beside the closet in the office. We encourage everyone to log their meetings and events or updates and changes on the form provided

 

**Checks:  The Receiving Treasurers have requested that when making multiple contributions to various church events, please make out separate checks. 

 

**Special Events:  Please complete the Facility Use form to Bruce Rood or the church office for requests for use of Fellowship Hall  & set up of tables & chairs used for special events.
