Lights – Many have driven by at night to see the lights, they are schedule to come on at 7pm.

 

 

Walk to a Healthier Heart! — All are welcome, every Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30am in the Fellowship Hall. We will be walking our way to a healthier heart, following a video lesson. Contact Charlene Welch  at 703.368.1001 or call the church office, 703.754.7933.

 

The Mission Committee would like the thank all those who have contributed vegetables for Plant a Row (PAR) for the Hungry.  So far we have we have collected over 500 pounds for SERVE. Please keep them coming!!  If you get a chance, stop by the little garden patch, behind the church, that the Wee-Church has planted where they are now harvesting tomatoes, squash and beans to support PAR!

 

Chancel Choir— John Wood has graciously agreed to step in as Chancel choir director as we seek a new long-term director. Rehearsals will resume September 7th, Wednesday Nights, 7:30-8:30pm. We look forward to our returning singers and would love to see some new faces too! We always have room for more!

 

Pardon the Mess — as the office is rearranged. There are quite a few ministries using this table!

 

Harry Potter fans age 9-13.  Have you finished reading book six?  Would you like to be a part of a discussion group and explore the “Half Blood Prince” together with other Harry Potter fans?  On October 16th from 3:00pm - 5:00pm we will be gathering at the Krasny house to do just that. Sign up by contacting Sharon Krasny at 703-753-0301 or emailing skrasna@aol.com.  Space is limited to the first 20 who respond so call now.

 

Session Meeting – The next meeting is Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.

 

Congratulations!!— To Shannon and Ben Pierce upon the birth of their son, Connor David Pierce on August 16, 2005 at 6:59pm!  The proud grandparents are  Margaret & Larry Mayhugh.

 

End of Summer Fun Fest-   Saturday, August 27, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm—Calling all children going into grades Kindergarten thru 6th grade!  Let's celebrate at the end of summer together before heading back to school! At the church, we’ll have a great time of food, fellowship, games, activities and FUN!    Be sure to sign up in for this event in the Fellowship Hall or by contacting Joy Yates, gpcjoyyates@comcast.net or 703.754-7933.  We hope you can come!

 

Children’s Ministry Team-  Are you looking for a great way to serve the church?  The Children's Ministry Team would love for you to share your time and talents to teach our children God's Word.  No experience necessary, just the desire to serve the Lord and share God's love.  We are seeking volunteers to help teach workshop classes, substitute teach or shepherd when needed, assist with the children's choir, volunteer for special events or even offer a story during the Children's Sermon at the 11:00 worship service.  This is a great opportunity for you to get to know the children and to help nurture their faith.  Please contact our Children’s Ministry Director, Joy Yates, for more information about where you would like to serve.  703.754-7933 or gpcjoyyates@comcast.net.

 

Nursery Needs?— For all event leaders! Do you anticipate requesting the church to provide child care for your event? We have a Child Care Request form available in the church office. This will ensure arrangements are made accordingly with the nursery attendants and the space.  Get your event plans on the Nursery’s schedule.

 

Youth Fellowship News:
