Parking Lot Project - Praise the Lord! There are  lines to park in so please be careful Sunday!

 

Roofing Project –  The shingle roof is complete!  The flat roof is next!

 

Lights – There is activity around the sidewalks and the parking lot to put in our lighting!

 

Summer Music -  Thank you to everyone who is making this such an enjoyable time. This Sunday, “the Keller Boys” have something planned! We invite you, too, to share your musical talents this summer asAugust 21st is still open.  Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board outside the office.

 

Plant-A-Row for the Hungry—Our Plant-A-Row collection will continue until the end of September.  There will be a bin in front of the church each Sunday for you to bring your surplus fruit and vegetables as we seek to serve the hungry in our community.  If you have any questions you can call Duane Mohr at 703-753-2064.

 

11:00am Adult Sunday School Class—is reading and discussing the book "Knowing God" by J.I. Packer. This class meets in the upstairs library of the education building during the 11am service. Please contact Brett Hinkey brett@hinkeycompany.com or Duane Mohr mohrhorses@earthlink.net.

 

Deacon’s Meeting - Thursday night, August 4, at 7:00 pm.

 

Women’s Bible Study— “What’s so Amazing about Grace?” This Philip Yancey book will be available for purchase this Friday, $13.57 each. All women are invited to a summer Bible Study led by Shamaine Friday mornings from 10:15—11:15 a.m. at the home of Trish Ruckle.  Child care is available, but please call the church office to sign up. 703.754.7933.

 

Walk to a Healthier Heart! — All are welcome, every Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30am in the Fellowship Hall. We will be walking our way to a healthier heart, following a video lesson. Contact Charlene Welch  at 703.368.1001 or call the church office.

 

Church Management Software – LOGOS II is the new application for the membership tracking here at Greenwich Church. The data import is almost ready, and we will update information as needed.

 

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper –We will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper next Sunday, August 7, 2005 at all three services.

 

                                   

Summer Youth Fellowship News:

 

  1. Swim Party, Sunday, July 31, 12:30 - 2:00pm at a Surprise Location: Youth will gather after church for some swimming, lunch and pool side relaxation. Plan to bring snacks to share (canned sodas, chips or dessert). Parents are welcome to stay as well.

 

  1. Volunteer Day - Tuesday, August 2 @ Camp Meadowkirk (8:15 am – 5:00 pm) $5 for lunch or bring your own.

 

  1. King’s Dominion Tuesday, August 9 (8:30am – 11:00pm) Bring $ for admission and snacks.

 

  1. Splashdown Waterpark  - Sunday, August 14 (4:00pm – 7:00pm)

 

  1. Habitat for Humanity “Women’s Build” Tuesday, August 16 Warrenton, for High School, College and adult women. Young men are invited for a workday to spread mulch on the playground at the church, etc.

 

  1. Swim Party, Sunday, August 21 (12:30pm – 2:00pm) at the Inn at Vint Hill.

 

  1. Fall Youth Group Kick-Off and Parents Meeting Sunday, August 28 (4:00pm – 7:00pm)

 

 

 

Children’s Christian Education News:

 

Opportunities with the Children’s Ministry Team – August is a great month to become a part of this  ministry as we gear up for a great new year of Sunday School and children’s programs.

 

Greenwich Night at Splashdown Waterpark-  Sunday, August 14, 4-7 p.m.- 

Join us as we gather for a fun, family event!  No need to RSVP (you pay at t he gate). Just come out and take a relaxing ride on the Lazy River or speed down the waterslides. Not into playing in the water? Come join us anyway for a fun evening together.  Need directions or have questions?  Contact Joy Yates at the church- 703-754-7933.   Visit www.splashdownwaterpark.com  $6.50 for ages 3 and up.

 

Sunday School - We are excited to have a great Wild and Wacky Sunday School this summer! Children who have just completed grades K-5 will meet together in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30am on Sunday mornings. Come join us!

 

Summer Fun Fest!—Saturday, August 27 11:30am—1:30pm. Reserve the date for games, crafts, prizes and lunch before school begins. Contact Joy at 703.754.7933.

 

Nursery News— Greenwich welcomes Kelly Ferrell & Amanda Coker as we transition to new nursery attendants on Sunday mornings, and Jennifer Perrius as our new nursery attendant for special events. Contact Joy for more information.

 

Preschool News:

 

Openings – Please note that we have a few remaining openings for our preschool classes, call Marian Rood for more information at 540.349.0401.

 

New Standards – We have met our future requirement of 10 parts per billion by testing at 9 parts per billion! Great news! For more information on the new water standards, please read the letter on the bulletin board posted from Bruce Rood and the Virginia Department of Health. The EPA standards will change January 23, 2006.
