Announcements

Happy 4th of July

11am Adult Sunday School Class is reading and discussing the book "Knowing God" by J.I. Packer. This class meets in the upstairs library of the education building during the 11am service. If you're interested in joining this class and need a book (we have several copies available, please contact Brett Hinkey ( brett@hinkeycompany.com) or Duane Mohr ( mohrhorses@earthlink.net).

 

VBS Heifer Project— Thank you for helping to raise $714.08 for Heifer International, which purchased 1 Heifer cow, 1 goat, 1 Honeybee hive, 1 Flock of chicks and 1 Flock of ducks. Thanks for all of your help, Mrs. Krasny!

Congratulations! To Nick and Stacey Bonnett on the birth of their son, Christopher Jacoby on Friday, June 24!

 

Mission Trip at Home On Saturday, July 9th, our church will again host “Mary’s Family”, an organization which provides respite care for families with children and adolescents with disabilities. The respite care is offered monthly on the second Saturday of each month at area churches. Contact Charlie or Ben Coe at 703.393.9384 or Shamaine at 703.754.7933.

Deacons – Meet when?  Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 7pm.

 

For All Musicians of GPC - We invite you to share your musical talents this summer during the months of July and August.  The choirs are on vacation so please consider taking their place one Sunday this summer.  Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board outside the office.

 

 

Jr. Church is on vacation! There is no Jr. Church during the summer months.  We will resume in September.  Elementary aged children are encouraged to use this time to experience the worship service with their family.  As a reminder, there are children's bulletins on the back table in the sanctuary for the children to use.

 

                       

Youth Fellowship—GPC Youth will help host Mary’s Family, Saturday July 9. Please sign up on the Youth bulletin board.

 

Summer Youth Fellowship Schedule—There will be no regular Sunday evening Youth for the summer. We will meet in July and August for special events such as the King’s Dominion Christian concert “King’s Fest” July 7. Please contact Shamaine for more information! Please sign up by July 3, cost is $40.

 

Parking Lot Plans— Can it be? The paving company has informed us that we are on the schedule! Plans are to begin on Monday, July 11 and should take only a week. Please pray for good weather and any last minute details to go well!

 

 

Food Collection – We are doing something new! Please note that we will simply put a flyer in the bulletin on Sunday for you,  as a reminder to shop during the week for SERVE’s food pantry. We will collect the food in your grocery bags the following Sunday, July 10.

 

Photos for the Directory - We will be taking family photos for a supplement to the church pictorial directory Sunday July 3, from the end of the first service to the end of  the third service in the social hall. If your family is not in, or has changed since the original directory, come by. Questions, call Jim Pittman at 703-743-5314.

 

 

Sunday School - We are excited to have a great Wild and Wacky Sunday School this summer! Children who have just completed grades K-5 will meet together in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30am on Sunday mornings. Come join us!

 

Women’s Bible Study— “What’s so Amazing about Grace?” Starts July 8th. All women are invited to a summer Bible Study led by Shamaine Friday mornings from 10:15—11:15 a.m. at the home of Trish Ruckle.  Child care is available, but please call the church office to sign up. 703.754.7933.

 

Mission of the Month – JULY – Tri-County Jail ministries as profiled in Sunday’s bulletin.

 

Teacher’s Aide— The Preschool has an opening for a Teacher’s Aide for the 2005-2006 school year.  For more information, please call Marian Rood at 703-754-7933.

 

New Standards - For more information on the new water standards, please read the letter on the bulletin board posted from Bruce Rood and the Virginia Department of Health. The EPA standards will change January 23, 2006. Current water testing results for maximum contaminant levels continue to be far below the current standard.
