Pause a Moment

Greenwich Presbyterian Church is steeped in its 200 year history and at first glance from the road it appears as a quaint, charming country church that invites the passerby to visit. Should the visitor decide to explore this invitation the promise becomes reality as they step inside on a Sunday morning. The first thing that is obvious is that you don't remain a stranger more than a few minutes. The people around you introduce themselves and welcome you. Before you depart the pastor will have learned your name, and you will be remembered when you return.

Obviously the people of Greenwich are part of the charm. The setting and the church are as if in a time lock harking back to a more friendly era from the past, and there are a significant number of families that descend from the earlier members and are represented by three present generations attending services as well as by tombstones in the surrounding churchyard cemetery bearing their surnames. Mixed with these long term members are a number of more recent arrivals, both from families brought to the area jobs and schools, and also a contingent of retired couples who chose the locale for  proximity to children and grandchildren, or the closeness to the Washington metropolitan area.

Pastor Don Meeks has led the church since 2001, during which time the church has grown significantly, now requiring three services on Sunday mornings. For all the charm and friendliness, the most enticing element is the message that is preached and taught and shared in all aspects of church life. Worship and Christian Education are related to the daily lives of the congregation, and the Missions are faith based. Christian fellowship abounds for all ages. Join us and experience the promise of God's love!
